Is Coffee Healthier than Tea?

Do you ever just sit by the window in the morning watching people pass by while having a cup of coffee and suddenly wonder, “Is coffee healthier than tea?”
Well, to be honest, both are healthy drinks. These two are just pretty similar when it comes to health benefits, although it has some slight differences. If you want to know more about these two, well, you better read until the end to get the answer you needed.
Before we get started, let me first introduce to you some things that you may or may not know about these two beverages. Let’s start with coffee.

We all know that coffee is a brewed drink made from roasted beans, right? It contains higher caffeine, which automatically gives us a jolt of energy when consumed. Coffee is also a rich source of antioxidants. In fact, coffee lovers decide that it is a good reason to up their coffee intake. Why? Because drinking more than 3 cups every day can help reduce the chances of having certain diseases like Parkinson’s disease. This is just one of the advantages of drinking coffee.


Tea, on the other hand, is an aromatic beverage that is prepared by pouring hot water onto the fresh leaves of the Camellia Sinensis. If you are a tea drinker, you would know this already. Also, tea contains an amino acid that slows the absorption of caffeine into the body.
As I have said before, these two are just pretty similar in health benefits, although there are some differences. Allow me to differentiate the two.


Coffee

  4. Contains key nutrients like manganese, potassium, magnesium, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, and niacin.
  5. Protects the liver.
  6. Helps with depression.

Tea

  1. Rich in folate.
  2. Keeps our body feel more relaxed and steadier.
  3. Accelerate weight loss by inducing faster fat burning.
  4. Bitter in taste and astringent.
  5. Hydrates the body.
  6. Inhibits the body’s production of cortisol, the stress hormone. Tea drinkers are usually mellow.
  7. Promotes mouth health.

Coffee is a strong brewed beverage that is really high in caffeine, while tea is generally weaker since not all caffeine is extracted from the leaves. Now, is coffee healthier than tea? No, because coffee is really high in caffeine and too much caffeine can lead to negative effects on the body like migraines, insomnia, and high blood pressure.
