Gilberto Basilio is the owner of Zaroca and came to know Pact Coffee through the exporter who works with us and Planalto. Though the farm’s been in the family for generations, Gilberto has only introduced speciality grade crops in the last two. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Gilberto’s also doing something quite rare in Brazil. He’s taken massive areas of his farm (formerly stripped for growing sugar cane) and completely reforested them. With the threat of climate change only too real, this is an eco-driven ethos we love to see. Here’s to helping him carry on the good fight!
