About this Coffee
Sweet and easy-drinking, this coffee offers a unique complexity to your cup. At first, rich notes of semi-sweet Baker’s Chocolate meld together with a touch of warm spices, similar to graham crackers. A tart sweetness reminiscent of cran-apple juice then coats the palate leading to a balanced finish.
One of ten children, Delmy Regalado grew up on her parents’ farm in Ocotepeque, Honduras. Initially, Delmy’s parents focused on the production of sugar cane, a popular cash crop in Honduras. Once coffee was introduced to the Ocotepeque region (one of the first areas in Honduras to grow coffee), Delmy’s parents shifted their focus to this exciting new crop. The success of Delmy’s family was unprecedented, and eventually her father handed down land to each of his ten children. Delmy’s appreciation for this inheritance is reflected in her farm’s name, La Fortuna, saying “this is the biggest Fortune that my father inherited to me.” Delmy’s passion for coffee is evident in every aspect of her farm’s practices. Delmy maintains Fair Trade and Organic certifications for her coffee, even making her own organic fertilizer by using coffee waste and excess mucilage. Delmy is also focused on boosting the success of the coffee industry in Honduras as a whole, given her ongoing work with the International Women’s Coffee Alliance as the chapter representative for the country. One day, Delmy hopes to pass along her passion for coffee production and the family farm to her three children. This is our third year sourcing coffee from Delmy, and we’re excited to showcase her exceptional product once again. Enjoy!
