About this Coffee

Café Granja is perhaps one of the most well known farms in the speciality coffee industry due to its award winning, incredibly high-quality coffees. It’s an outstanding example of large-scale speciality coffee production that is both commercially viable and has environmental sustainability at its core.

This farm is 74 hectares (roughly 182 acres) and 22 hectares of the farm is preserved forest, with the other 52 dedicated to coffee. This means almost 30% of the farm is dedicated to biodiversity, which is an insane percentage! There aren’t many other farming sectors that allow 30% of their land to be left to nature in this way. Cafe Granja has five farms that they operate in the same way they do this one (known as La Esperanza).

When you see the name Cafe Granja next to the title of your coffee, you know you’re in for a treat! This is by no means your regular Colombian coffee but it’s seriously delicious and a surprise on the senses. The first thing that hits you is the sparkly mouthfeel followed by a subtle vanilla hit. It has quite a high acidity for a Colombian coffee but the brown sugar sweetness complements it perfectly. As a filter there are delicate florals that evolve as the coffee cools. With the addition of milk the character is muted a bit and the florals are lost but it becomes almost tea-like.
