About this Coffee
This coffee is ideal for a coffee drinker that enjoys black coffee with crisp acidity and a sweet nutty finish
Brazil Mantiqueira de Minas is sourced from family- owned farms in the Mantiqueira de Minas region within the state Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Mantiqueira de Minas region has a protected designation of origin (PDO) because of the region’s renowned coffee reputation and optimal growing conditions. The region comprises 25 municipalities with more than 9,000 producers, nearly 90 percent considered small producers. These small producers are organized through cooperatives that operate in the region to bring their coffee to the international market. This collective of small producers is distinct in Brazil where lots often come from larger estates that use highly mechanized processing strategies to manage larger volumes.
The cultivar Mundo Novo, discovered in 1943, is a result of natural cross between the Bourbon and Typica varieties found in Mineiros do Tietê, Soa Paulo, Brazil. Seeds of the original coffee plants were planted in the municipality of Novo Mundo, today called Urepes. The plant is characterized as strong, very tall in structure and high in its yield potential, although late to mature. The first year of production is around year 3 of planting.
