About this Coffee
Originally, Mauro Gomez primarily grew Avocado on his farm, La Ladera. Once the guerrilla, poppy, and coca entered the region, however, years of instability and violence forced many family farms to abandon their homes and crops.
Years later, when the violence settled, farmers returned and made the decision to begin growing coffee, which was well suited to the area due to its soil composition, and unique sun and rain cycles.
When coffee does not require immediate attention, Mauro focuses on growing food for his family, and improving the construction of his processing area and home.
This lot from his farm is full of incredible sweetness, and nuanced fruit character. In the cup, we’re tasting key lime, brown sugar, and tart cherry.
