About this Coffee

These beans, fermented with cherry juice, will enchant you with tropical flavor notes of mandarin oranges and vanilla.

Orange X is a coffee process created by Felipe Trujillo. We’ve been working with Felipe for years and his Ventolera Orange coffee was the first experimentally-processed coffee we offered. Orange X starts with the Yellow Colombia coffee varietal grown on his farm, La Ventolera. The beans then undergo a unique process that involves washing them with cherry juice and subjecting them to acetic, lactic, and malic fermentation. This results in a one-of-a-kind flavor profile with notes of mandarin orange, sweet cream, vanilla, and a refreshing and bright finish.

Felipe had a successful career as a CEO at an office supply company, but chose a career-path-change and decided to help his father manage the traditional coffee farm they had inherited from his grandfather. Led by passion, from day one, he began drawing inspiration from the wine industry, where he became a disciplined student of fermentation processes. Today, his farm, La Ventolera, has become a regional institution for specialty coffee. There he preaches his passion for coffee designing and teaches young farmers the art and science of coffee processing.
