About this Coffee

Producer: Silvio Leite
Relationship length: since 2020

We first met Silvio Leite in 2008 and were immediately blown away by his talent, expertise and dedication. As an educator, mentor and co-founder of the Cup of Excellence program, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the international specialty coffee industry.

For many years, Silvio has helped us source beautiful coffees in Brazil, but in the last three years we’ve been lucky enough to buy directly from him! He had wanted to establish his own coffee farm for a long time, and in 2019, he finally purchased 30 hectares of land, and hired an all-star team to help him run the farm.

This lot of coffee was processed using the pulped natural method. After being selectively hand-picked, the coffee cherries were pulped and then dried in greenhouses. The extended shade-drying process allowed the beans to retain more of the sugars from the fruit mucilage, resulting in a beautifully sweet and complex coffee in the cup.
