About this Coffee

Similar to Equator Blend, our namesake decaf blend is a crowd-pleaser!

Both coffees in this blend are decaffeinated using the mountain water process of caffeine extraction, ensuring the coffees retain their original flavor characteristics. Custom crafted by our expert roasters to highlight these flavors, this rich, smooth decaf blend can be enjoyed on its own or with the addition of milk.

Decaf Equator Blend is built around a fully washed coffee from Colombia grown by smallholder farmers in the Popayán growing region. Although the decaffeination process has greatly improved over the last couple of decades, we often come across decaf coffees that have muddled flavors. This coffee however, retained much of its original fruity flavors and acidity which add nuance and elements of brightness to the blend. We then added a coffee from the Minas Gerais growing region of Brazil. It is a mix of natural and pulped-natural lots and rounds out the blend by adding body and flavors of nut-toned chocolate.

Both coffees are decaffeinated using the mountain water process of caffeine extraction where they are immersed in glacier water from Mexico’s tallest mountain, Pico de Orizaba. The water contains soluble components of the coffee beans which include the elements of flavor, so during the caffeine extraction the coffees retain their original flavor characteristics. The water then passes through a filter that separates the caffeine from the soluble components, creating a solution saturated with flavor which is saved and used again for caffeine extraction.
