About this Coffee

Luis Joaquín Lovo, Producer
Red Caturra and Yellow Catuaí grown at 1200-1450 masl.

This award-winning farm is run by third generation coffee producer Luis Joaquín Lovo who, in his own words, has “been given the legacy to continue with passion the deeply rooted family tradition of coffee farming”. Luis Joaquín is focused on producing quality coffee through initiatives that include: applying environmental sustainability at the farm, selecting ideal coffee varieties, balancing plant health and nutrition, regulating shade as necessary (coffee grows under shade trees such as guava, Guajiniquil, cedar and banana) to provide right growing conditions, picking the optimum ripe cherries, pulping without water and keeping optimum fermentation timings and using spring water to wash in water channels. Coffee is then processed through strict procedures at the family’s dry mill in Ocotal.

We have been working with the Lovo family since 2011 and year after year, Santa Teresa is always one of those coffees we look forward to – that is recognizable at first sip with its notes of Key lime, toasted almond and milk chocolate.
