About this Coffee

Natural Guji is a type of coffee that originates from the town of Guji in the city of Odo Shakiso, Ethiopia. The region is renowned for its outstanding and intricately layered coffee. This year’s harvest of the heirloom variety was picked at 1800-1900 feet above sea level, resulting in a brew that is sure to amaze.

For this roast, we partnered with Keffa Coffee, a second-generation Ethiopian coffee company. Keffa Coffee sources its coffee beans ethically and, like us, is devoted to supporting its farmers, community, customers, and employees. Owner Samuel Demisse is not only a coffee connoisseur but also views coffee as a lifestyle. Demisse was born in the region of Kochere, Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee. In 2006, he founded Keffa Coffee after noticing a lack of Ethiopian coffee imports in the USA. Keffa now imports over 3 varieties of coffee from 10 countries and ships to roughly 450 customers globally.

Roast Story:

Once we sampled this coffee, we were certain we wanted to include it in our collection. We started with 5 bags, but after carefully assessing its quality, we were so impressed that we ordered 5 more. The flavor profile is reminiscent of a sweet and buttery pastry, with a velvety and smooth texture, and a slightly acidic finish. To roast it, we utilized a unique method called soaking, wherein we introduce the coffee to the roasting machine before igniting the gas, which results in a more evenly distributed heat and a lighter roast.
